On a hot summer's day, the young narrator goes for a walk on the outskirts of the city to a big black dog of unknown race and provenance, savage and hungry, but of peculiar beauty. He does not let himself be shaken off, pushes himself through the crack in the door to her apartment and thus into her life. The narrator, who has been living alone since her mother's death, takes the dog with her more than voluntarily forced by circumstances. She buys pet food, leash and collar, takes him to a groomer. With the imposing animal, a counterpart enters her life, which occupies more and more space in their loneliness in a disturbing way. It is the Hundstage, the time of the greatest summer heat, combined with the appearance of the constellation "Big Dog" on the horizon, whose brightest star Sirius has always been considered the announcer of special events and the star of the realm of the dead.

Placing group formations, with all their promises an...
